Istanbul Combo: Classic City Tour and Bosphorus Cruise

Your guide meets you at your hotel or at the port to begin the tour of Istanbul's highlights:

• Hagia Sophia: admire its remarkable blend of Christian and Islamic influences, its beautiful mosaics and its long history.
• Hippodrome / Sultanahmet Square: the square where chariot races were held in Roman times, home to the Egyptian Obelisk from the Byzantine era and, today, the German Fountain.
• Grand Bazaar and Spice Market: two colourful covered markets full of shops selling spices, rugs, bags, flavoured teas, jackets, Turkish delight, nuts, ceramics and small souvenirs.
• Blue Mosque: built in the early 1600s for Sultan Ahmed I, a magnificent building whose proportions feel remarkably light for its size. Thousands of blue Iznik tiles give it its popular name, and its six minarets make it instantly recognisable.
• Bosphorus Cruise: by public ferry between the European and Asian shores, passing Galata Tower, Dolmabahce Palace, Rumeli Fortress, old Ottoman mansions, the Bosphorus bridges and waterfront mosques.

After the cruise the tour is complete, and your guide accompanies you back to your hotel.

• On Fridays Hagia Sophia is closed to visitors between 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm, and the Blue Mosque until 2:30 pm.
• The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays.
• This is a private tour: only your group takes part.
• If you are staying in Sultanahmet, the main sights are within walking distance, so a private van adds little.
• Without van service, your guide meets you on foot at centrally located hotels.
• For hotels outside the city centre, the meeting point is the German Fountain unless a private van is booked.
• Van service to hotels outside the city centre or on the Asian side has an extra charge.
