Just beyond Ephesus lies the House of the Virgin Mary. According to Christian tradition, the Apostle John brought Mary here after the Resurrection and she spent her final days in this house. A small shrine to Mary was found when the ruins were first discovered, and the Vatican has since recognised the site.

You also visit Isa Bey Mosque, built in the 14th century by the first Muslim dynasty to settle in western Anatolia, and learn about early Islamic architecture.
